Ooooohhhh I know it's tempting, but DON'T DO IT!
That pimple is just begging to be popped, but DON'T DO IT!
Though it may be unsightly, popping that zit will do more harm to your skin. For starters, if you pop that pimple, chances are you're going to cause the skin surrounding it to become inflamed from all the poking and prodding. So instead of just one lone zit, you know have to try to conceal the swollen, irritated skin surrounding the blemish. Even if you wash your hands and use sterile tweezers there's always the risk of infecting the area once the skin is broken. Why risk that?
Discoloration and scaring are also nasty cons. If you're lucky, it won't take too long for your skin to regain it's natural color and texture. Again, why risk it?
I prefer to be proactive rather than reactive. Keep your skin clean, moisturized, eat better, and.....KEEP YOUR HANDS OUT OF YOUR FACE!
A tip to reduce the appearance and swelling of zits and to increase circulation is to rub ice (covered with some sort of cloth) over the area. This approach is recommended because it's safe for all skin types, costs nothing, and it's simple. You know I'm all about simple!
Pimples are not the end of the world! We all get them occasionally. Don't freak out and cause more damage to your skin. You'll only cause more damage in the long run.

5 Easy Ways to Incorporate Green Tea In Your Beauty Routine
Green tea has definitely proven itself for hundreds of years as a healthy drink option, but have you considered adding it to your skin or hair care routine? The leaves of green tea are steamed fresh rather than being oxidized first which is why they are more beneficial than other tea leaves. This form of processing enables green tea to retain more health benefits.
Green tea contains potent antioxidants that help fight off the free radicals we come into contact with on a daily basis. Though they don't block UV sun rays, these antioxidants do protect skin and hair from sun damage and also help to fight inflammation to calm the skin. Green tea contains more catechins than other forms of tea which contributes to it's antibacterial and antiviral properties.
So how does one incorporate green tea into their beauty routine? Here are a few simple ways to try:
- You could use it as a toner by freezing freshly brewed green tea in an ice tray and thawing out single cubes to use everyday.
- You could use it as the liquid portion of your face mask. I sometimes replace the water in my bentonite clay masks with a couple of tablespoons of fresh brewed green tea to help flush those toxins out.
- Got puffy eyes? After brewing tea bags, simply let them cool and cover your eyelids with them. Sit back and relax while the green tea properties help to reduce the swelling,
- Follow a good shampooing with a green tea hair rinse for strong, shiny hair. Cover hair with tea for at least 10 minutes then rinse with cool water.
- You could also just drink more green tea! Your skin and hair will appreciate it ;)
Do you have a favorite way to incorporate green tea into your routine? Please feel free to share!

3 Ways We've Improved Our Revitalizing Facial Kit
I wanted to quickly share 3 ways we've improved our Facial Kit:
- There are now 3 different options for clays to make our kits more beneficial for all skin types! Previously, the only option we offered was bentonite clay which tends to work best for normal to oily skin. Rhassoul clay (for normal skin) and Rose Kaolin clay (for sensitive skin) are now available as well.
- A bag of Herbal Steam is now included in every kit! The herbal blend of calendula, chamomile, lavender, red rose hips and rosemary help soothe the senses while the pores are being opened during your facial steam.
- We've also made some changes in regards to packaging. The outer box has been replaced to better accommodate all the items now contained in the Facial Kit. Also, in our continued efforts to be eco-friendly, we've done away with the shrink wrap on the jars and use a simple label seal instead. Also, we've done away with the plastic mixing spoon and went with a gorgeous bamboo spoon.
Let me know whatcha think!
Lydia
