THINK BIG.....shop small

Eva Jenae Naturals | 100% Natural and Vegan Skincare

I almost did it yall. I was ALMOST pressured into slashing my prices for Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. It's easy to get caught up in all the pressure and stress out over the possible sales you'll miss out on, but I have to stick with my guns on this.
I don't mass produce my products and it's crazy for me to think I can compare my tiny little indie business to big box stores and brands. They can afford to offer huge discounts, not me. Lots of love and care go into every product I make, package, and label by hand. Slashing my prices would be great for customers, but would cripple my business.
I encourage you all to think big and shop small year round....not just for Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. Small businesses are the backbone of our communities. We sponsor youth teams, support local organizations, and funnel money directly back into the communities we live in.
While I don't have huge sales, I can offer you the most nourishing vegan products your skin and hair will love!

Why Is My Skin So Itchy?

I get this question ALOT!  Aside from not being adequately hydrated and eating a poor diet, three other culprits that could be contributing to your dry, itchy skin are harsh soaps, hard water and those beloved hot showers.

So, what are harsh soaps?  I consider a soap (whether it be bar or liquid) harsh if it contains added unnatural cleansers, scents or other ingredients that strip the skin of it's natural moisture.  These types of ingredients add no real health benefits and only cause more damage to the skin.  That glitter may make you sparkle and that artificial cherry blossom scent may make you smell irresistibly scrumptious, but think about everything else it may do to your skin.  To me, the cons outweigh the pros with these types of products.  Opt instead for natural soaps containing glycerin, essential oils, and other skin loving ingredients.  Check out our line of all natural, handcrafted soaps here!

Hard water contains excessive minerals such as calcium, iron and magnesium.  Unfortunately, I've become all too familiar with them since we've moved here to Ohio.  These minerals are sometimes hard to wash off the skin and leave a film that draws precious oils from the skin.  We remedied our hard water situation by adding a water softener to our home which has made a noticeable difference.  Even our soaps and shampoos lather better!

Now I love my hot showers just as much as the next person, but I had to reduce them for the sake of my skin.  Long showers in hot water strip the skin of natural oils which lead to...guess what....DRY, FLAKY SKIN!  Try to simply reduce the number of hot showers you're taking or turn down the temperature on your hot water heater.

The best person to answer why your skin is dry and itchy is YOU! No one knows your body better than you. Make sure you're drinking enough water, eating properly, reading your soap (and other skincare) labels, and avoiding hard water and excessive hot showers.  If your skin is still not cooperating, I'd recommend enlisting the help of a dermatologist or physician to help you figure out what the issue may be.

Until next time,

Lydia
