No Shave November Giveaway

We all see the stubble coming in and the pics all over instagram. It's No Shave November and we're gonna make it a little easier for you guys to grow out that beard this month by giving away a few key products to keep your face and beard nourished.

Let's start with a clean fresh beard (and face)!  Eva Jenae Naturals handcrafted Peppermint Eucalyptus Soap won't strip the natural oils from your beard like most shampoos.  The addition of peppermint and eucalyptus essential oils to our cold processed soap invigorates and refreshens as it cleans! We'll even throw in a Cedar Soap Dish to preserve your soap.

Now it's time to condition.  Our Beard Oil  was designed to do just that!  This blend of 100% natural, cold pressed plant oils handsomely scented with cedarwood and patchouli essential oils nourishes the beard as well as the face.  Just massage a few drops (depending on the thickness and length) throughout your beard and face and you're good to go!

Just follow the rules...GOOD LUCK!

Confession.  I actually had no idea the origin of No Shave November was to raise awareness of cancer.  No-shave.org says the goal was to get folks to embrace their hair and let it grow freely as many cancer patients lose theirs during treatment.  They encourage us to donate the money we'd normally spend on razors to cancer awareness and prevention programs. Visit their website for more info.

Here Comes the Cold! Is your skin prepared?

Temperatures are dropping, days are getting shorter and most of us will experience drier skin in the upcoming months.  I shared a few tips on instagram a few days ago  to help with this transition and wanted to give a bit more detail.

Hydrating from the inside out is VITAL in any season!  You'd be amazed at the wonders good ol' H20 work for your skin.  It's important to remember that your skin is the last part of your body to receive nourishment and it quickly becomes evident if you aren't properly hydrating yourself. Hydrated skin is supple and luminous while dehydrated skin is dull, flaky, and may also be itchy.

I'm sure you've heard all the suggestions of how much water you should consume - drink 8 cups a day, drink 1/2 your body weight, drink a gallon per day.  I suggest you do whatever works for you. Every body is different.  Personally, I've always drank lots of water, but my skin quickly tell on me on those rare days I don't get enough water.

Opting for a heavier moisturizer will help to seal moisture in your skin and prevent water loss.  In the summer a light oil may be just enough to keep  your skin moist throughout the day, but a heavier moisturizer in the fall and winter will offer a protective barrier against the harsh elements. In our household, we switch from Bath Oil to a shea butter based Whipped Body Butter during the fall and winter.

Exfoliating a couple times per week will help to shed dead and excessive skin cells to reveal the newer skin underneath. Shedding those cells will also increase the absorption of the products you are applying to your skin.  I'd recommend and oil based exfoliant that also hydrates like our Softening Body Polish with organic virgin coconut oil.

I'd also suggest protecting your skin from the sun and extreme temperatures by applying sunscreen and properly covering exposed areas.  Just because you don't feel the heat from the sun doesn't mean it's not damaging your skin.

Last thing....please, please, PLEASE, check the ingredient labels on  your soaps and body washes! They may list sulfates and other chemicals that are doing more damage to your skin and may be negating your efforts to heal, nourish, and hydrate.  Soaps and body washes should clean your skin-not strip them of their natural moisture.  If your skin feels tight, dry, and/or itchy after use GET RID OF IT!

Do you have more tips to share for transitioning skin care routines for cooler weather?  I'd love to hear them...just leave a comment below.

Yesterday was bittersweet as I picked up the remainder of my products in stock from Simply Vague Stores.  Bitter because I've decided to terminate my contract with their company, yet sweet because I know better opportunities await.

As I made the drive to pick up my inventory, I couldn't help but remember how nervous I was meeting the owners of the store and praying they were receptive my products nearly two years ago. I loved the store's design and the concept of featuring only Ohio made products by local artists.  The icing on the cake was that there was only one other company in the store (at that time) with similar products.  The feedback I received from the owners left me with an indescribable feeling of accomplishment and I couldn't wait to get Eva Jenae Naturals on their shelves!

After a year and a half Eva Jenae Naturals was on the shelves in three of the four Simply Vague locations, but I was not happy.  Though I learned a great deal and gained some amazingly loyal customers, I was not happy because the consignment arrangement was not the right fit for my company.  My products were now one of multiple skin and hair care lines on the shelves and the profits were simply not worth the 80 mile trip to restock.  So, the decision had to be made to terminate our contract and move on.

I'll continue to keep moving forward and seek out wholesale opportunities throughout the country instead of just in the local area (go BIG or go HOME right???). I invite all those customers who purchased Eva Jenae Naturals from Simply Vague to shop at our website.

Until next time....KEEP PUSHIN!

Beard Oil- Finally Something Especially for the Fellas!

Ladies and gentlemen the wait is over! This by far has been one of my most challenging products to formulate! It took months of experimenting to find the right combination of plant and essential oils that would achieve the results I was looking for in a beard oil.

The goal was to create a beard oil that would condition and nourish both the skin and beard simultaneously and add a nice little sheen. The challenge was combining oils that would not be heavy in the summer yet able to get the job done during the harsh winter months.   This combination of sweet almond, grapeseed, and jojoba oils is perfect and smells AMAZING!  The cedarwood and patchouli essential oils blend perfectly for a light masculine scent!  Get yours here!

Thanks to my husband (ain't he handsome!) for letting me experiment on him and bombard him with question after question with each new formula.

Eva Jenae Naturals Beard Oil is sold in a 4 oz bottle.

It's Never Too Early for that Summertime Glow!

Who says you have to wait for the season to change to have supple glowing skin???  Yes it's 14° outside and I can't feel my toes, but I still want my face to glow!

My face is noticeably drier in the winter and I absolutely hate how it makes my skin tone look dull and uneven.  I'm always on the hunt for a good face mask that moisturizes and conditions my skin.  I think this one is going to be my "go-to" mask for awhile!  As usual all of the ingredients were right in my kitchen- turmeric, raw honey, and lemon juice.

Each of these ingredients has many beneficial properties for skincare, but combined they help to brighten, moisturize, and bring life to tired, dull skin.  Here's what I did:

  1. Mix equal parts of raw honey and lemon juice with 1/2 tsp of turmeric. Make the mask as thick or as thin as you'd like by adding more or less lemon juice.
  2. Spread the mixture onto your freshly washed face and leave on for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Use warm water to wash the mask off your face and follow up with a toner and moisturizer.  I opted to use witch hazel for a toner and our Whipped Body Butter to moisturize.
How easy was that!  I loved the way this mask made my face feel right after I washed it off and it looked and felt even better the next day!

Take a few minutes and pamper yourself!
