There's a Month Dedicated to Oatmeal????

Apparently so.....  January is National Oatmeal Month.  We all know that oatmeal is exceptionally good for your heart, but it also does wonders for our skin.

Oatmeal is packed with anti-inflammatory agents to soothe dry, irritated skin which is why it has been used forever to treat the symptoms of rashes, eczema, and rosacea.  It also absorbs oil from acne-prone skin, acts as a gentle exfoliate and even contains saponins (which are mild cleansers).  It's the perfect  skincare ingredient for EVERY skin type!

These are just a few of the different combinations of oatmeal masks made from ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.

Oily/Acne-prone skin-
1/4 cup oats
2 tsp lemon juice (or apple cider vinegar)

Normal Skin-
1/4 cup oats
1 tbs olive oil

Dry Skin-
1/4 cup oats
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tbs vegetable glycerin (or honey)

Directions-
For all recipes, grind oats to a powder in coffee grinder & mix in desired ingredients for skin type.  The consistency for all recipes should be a paste.  Wash face and neck thoroughly, apply mask and leave on for 10-15 minutes.  Rinse well with warm water and follow with a moisturizer.

What's your fav oatmeal mask? Do tell........

;) Lydia
